John Sheehan
Died on the 10th July 2007 aged 78
London born, but lived in Long compton at time of death
John was born in Paddington, London on the 8th May 1929 a second son for Cornelius & Susan Sheehan and brother to Patrick
He met my mum when she was 15 and he was 20, they married 2 years later and had 5 children, sadly their first child, John, died at just 9 weeks old, they then went on to have 4 others, me being one of them, the youngest, us kids have given mum & dad 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grand children between us
Mum and dad celebrated their golden anniversary in 2001, and what a wonderful party they had
this year my dad started getting terrible backaches and for 4 months his doctor just gave him pain killers !! when things became so bad for him my mum was put in emergency respite care as she is badly disabled, he reluctantly went into hospital where they found he had cancer all over him, lungs, liver, bones and spine he died 2 weeks later.
Dad thank you for looking after mum the way only you could, you were the best, the doctors told me that you would have had the cancer for quite a while, but you never let on to any of us that you were so unwell and you must have been in an incredible amount of pain, you were so devoted to mum and thats why you never said anything
Mum is ok but she misses you so much, give her strength and keep watching over her and all of us, I hope you are pain free and happy with the angels
On the 8th April 2009, my mum became an angel and is now reunited with my Dad, God bless you both
I love you dad, god bless x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x
☜♡☞ The Wings That Fly Us Home ☜♡☞
There are many ways of being in this circle we call life
A wise man seeks an answer, burns his candle through the night
Is a jewel just a pebble that found a way to shine
Is a hero’s blood more righteous than a hobo’s sip of wine
☀
Did I speak to you one morning on some distant world away
Did you save me from an arrow, did you lay me in a grave
Were we brothers on a journey, did you teach me how to run
Were we broken by the waters, did I lie you in the sun
☀
I dreamed you were a prophet in a meadow
I dreamed I was a mountain in the wind
I dreamed you knelt and touched me with a flower
I awoke with this: a flower in my hand
☀
I know that love is seeing all the infinite in one
In the brotherhood of creatures; who the father, who the son
The vision of your goodness will sustain me through the cold
Take my hand now to remember when you find yourself alone
☀
And the spirit fills the darkness of the heavens
It fills the endless yearning of the soul
It lives within a star too far to dream of
It lives within each part and is the whole
☀
It’s the fire and the wings that fly us home
Fly us home, fly us home.
~ Words by Joe Henry, music by John Denver

*✫* Christmas Secrets *✫*
Underneath a winter sky
a distant train sings out the miles.
So I imagine, it may be,
that every mile brings you to me.
A promise made may still come true,
so I am waiting here for you,
if you don’t come, what will I do?
Who shall I tell my secrets to?
*☾*
Christmas bells ring out their chimes,
I hear them echo through the miles,
and moonlight shines upon the road
and trembles on the fallen snow
I look into the midnight blue
So many stars I never knew.
If you don’t come, what will I do?
Who shall I tell my secrets to?
*☾*
I look into the midnight blue
So many stars I never knew.
If you don’t come, what will I do?
Who shall I tell my secrets to?

ღ A Farewell ღ
FAREWELL, oh dream of mine!
I dare not stay;
The hour is come, and time
Will not delay:
Pleasant and dear to me
Wilt thou remain;
No future hour
Brings thee again.
❦
She stands, the Future dim,
And draws me on,
And shows me dearer joys—
But thou art gone!
Treasures and Hopes more fair,
Bears she for me,
And yet I linger,
Oh dream, with thee!
❦
Other and brighter days,
Perhaps she brings;
Deeper and holier songs,
Perchance she sings;
But thou and I, fair time,
We too must sever—
Oh dream of mine,
Farewell for ever!
~ Adelaide Anne Procter

What is lovely never dies, but passes into other loveliness,

✿ Memory ✿
My mind lets go a thousand things,
Like dates of wars and deaths of kings,
And yet recalls the very hour—
‘Twas noon by yonder village tower,
And on the last blue noon in May—
The wind came briskly up this way,
Crisping the brook beside the road;
Then, pausing here, set down its load
Of pine-scents, and shook listlessly
Two petals from that wild-rose tree.

✽ Sunrise Never Failed Us Yet ✽
Upon the sadness of the sea
The sunset broods regretfully;
From the far lonely spaces, slow
Withdraws the wistful after-glow.
*ღ*
So out of life the splendor dies,
So darken all the happy skies,
So gathers twilight, cold and stern;
But overhead the planets burn;
*ღ*
And up the east another day
Shall chase the bitter dark away;
What though our eyes with tears be wet?
The sunrise never failed us yet.
*ღ*
The blush of dawn may yet restore
Our light and hope and joys once more.
Sad soul, take comfort, nor forget
That sunrise never failed us yet!

✽ Stars In My Crown ✽
I am thinking today of that beautiful land
I shall reach when the sun goes down
When through wonderful grace by my Saviour I stand
Will there be any stars in my crown?
✰...✰
Will there be any stars in my crown
When at evening the sun goes down
When I wake with the blest in the mansions of rest
Will there be any stars in my crown?
✰...✰
In the strength of the Lord let me labour and pray,
Shall I watch as a winner of souls
That bright stars may be mine in the glorious day
When His praise like the sea billow rolls?
✰...✰
Will there be any stars in my crown
When at evening the sun goes down
When I wake with the blest in the mansions of rest
Will there be any stars in my crown?
✰...✰
O what joy will there be when His face I behold
And with gems at his feet to lay down
It would sweeten my bliss in the City of Gold
Should there be any stars in my crown.
✰...✰
Will there be any stars in my crown
When at evening the sun goes down
When I wake with the blest in the mansions of rest
Will there be any stars in my crown?…

~ The Different Stars ✰...✰
I could never have come to the present without you
remember that
from whatever stage we may again
watch it appear
with its lines clear
pain
having gone from there
so that we may well wonder
looking back on us here
what tormented us
what great difficulty invisible
in a time that by then looks simple
and is irrevocable
pain having come from there
my love
I tend to think of division as the only evil
when perhaps it is merely my own
that unties
one day the veins
one the arteries
that prizes less
as it receives than as it loses
that breaks the compasses
cannot be led or followed
cannot choose what to carry
into grief
even
unbinds will unbind
unbinds our hands
pages of the same story
what is it
they say can turn even this into wisdom
and what is wisdom if it is not
now
in the loss that has not left this place
oh if we knew
if we knew what we needed
if we even knew
the stars would look to us to guide them.
~ W.S Merwin ✰...✰

♥ If We Never Meet Again ♥
(I will meet you on that beautiful shore)
Soon we'll come to the end of life's journey
And perhaps never meet anymore
Till we gather in heaven's bright city
Far away on that beautiful shore
If we never meet again this side of heaven
As we struggle through this world and its strife
There's another meeting place somewhere in heaven
By the side of the river of life
Where the charming roses bloom forever
And where separations come no more
If we never meet again this side of heaven
I will meet you on that beautiful shore
Oh they say we shall meet by the river
Where no storm clouds ever darken the sky
And they say we'll be happy in heaven
In the wonderful sweet by and by
If we never meet again...
(If we never meet again this side of heaven)
I will meet you on that beautiful shore
(Beautiful beautiful shore)

An old monk was once asked why he cared for ancient graves,
and why he cleaned the stones to preserve the writing carved there.
His reply was simple: “They still have their names. They will
always have their names.”
A life infused with love has consequences that reach beyond time
— ensuring that names, and places, and memories of what was,
still are, and always will be. They are not dead, can never die.
~ Gregory & Suzanne Wolfe

This world is not conclusion;
A sequel stands beyond,
Invisible, as music,
But positive, as sound.

Perplexed Music…☆
Experience, like a pale musician, holds
A dulcimer of patience in his hand,
Whence harmonies, we cannot understand,
Of God; will in his worlds, the strain unfolds
In sad-perplexed minors: deathly colds
Fall on us while we hear, and countermand
Our sanguine heart back from the fancy-land
With nightingales in visionary wolds.
We murmur ‘Where is any certain tune
Or measured music in such notes as these?’
But angels, leaning from the golden seat,
Are not so minded their fine ear hath won
The issue of completed cadences,
And, smiling down the stars, they whisper—SWEET.
~ Elizabeth Barrett Browning

☜♡☞ Dancing With Angels ☜♡☞
It’s just so hard to believe
All I have to hold is your memory
From this side of the clouds all I see is grief
But on the other side I know you’re free
And you’re dancing, dancing with angels.
Somewhere just out of my reach
You’re keeping heavenly company
When I’m feeling lonely it’s for myself I cry
‘Cause there aren’t any tears in paradise
When you’re dancing, dancing with angels.
I can almost hear your laughter
See the fullness of your joy
Knowing that you’re present with the Lord
And though today I miss you I know the day will come
When every believer will behold the Son
And we’ll be dancing, dancing with angels.
